How To Target Fat With Exercise

So you want to Burn, Trim, Target and Melt that Fat away from the problem regions of your body.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but it simply doesn't work that way. The term 'Spot Reduction' refers to the belief, long viewed as a myth, that fat can be targeted for reduction from a specific area of the body.

Don't pay attention to magazines or tv infomercials that tell you, with their product or device you can burn and trim away the fat, only targeting specific areas of your body. They will show you so called proof, before and after photos, testimonials, thermal cameras showing the fat being targeted, the list goes on. Its possible that there are some products which have a mild thermogenic effect and even some infomercial exercise equipment that may actually work, but that doesn't mean it is targeting a specific area of fat. The only thing that exercise targets in regards to shaping the body, are your muscles. Muscles can increase and decrease in size based on their use. If they increase enough they become tight against the skin and therefore create a shape, which in the early stages could be referred to as toning (a common term used by tv infomercials). It's a common mistake to think that doing sit ups is burning fat from your stomach, this is WRONG. Yes, sit up are potentially burning some fat from your abdominal region, but it's far more likely that it isn't.

Here is why. The body uses fat as an energy source, when it needs energy it will use stored fat. Your body will choose where that fat comes from, you don't get to decide.

The majority of people gain fat initially around the midsection, then it creeps its way up to your face, arms and upper regions of the body. Its stores differently for males than females to an extent because of the difference in physical make up. If you lose weight you will probably see it first go from your face, upper body and upper stomach and the last most stubborn areas will be your thighs, hips, lower stomach and butt. If you have already lost weight in the upper regions then just keep going and you will eventually start eating away the fat from the most stubborn areas too. The lesson here is, don't waste your time focusing on a particular area, unless it is aimed at the muscle itself. Simply burn calories and once you start losing weight all you need to do is keep going and you will eventually hit those hard to reach fat stores.
